Levenshtein Distance
The author of this book is the Levenhstein Distance algorithm, the subject is the eucalyptus tree in "Fama y eucalipto", an excerpt from Historias de Cronopios y de Famas by Julio Cortázar, published in 1962 by Editorial Minotauro.

Trees of Discomfort
This experiment is an artistic interpretation of the random forest algorithm. The random forest algorithm is a machine learning algorithm in which several decision trees are trained on a dataset and form a forest. The trees of the of forest try to predict the category of a given observation. They do this by answering a set of yes or no questions. Starting at the root of the tree they follow either the left or right branch to arrive at the next question (a knot), or at an answer (an endpoint). Once the trees have decided for themselves they vote and the forest comes to a decision.

Rewilding Specimens
In this installation you encounter a few taxonomists who renamed plants collected between 1885 and 1960 in Belgian Congo. For this occasion the virtual spirits of the type specimens who once lived a flourishing life in Congo, Rwanda and Burundi, left the herbarium to rename the taxonomists and rewild their portraits.

Oracle Deck for Consentful Publishing Infrastructures
This oracle is a hands-on card deck in development. It is designed to help us collectively envision and share ideas for what consentful publishing infrastructures might be... or might not. It was inspired by The Oracle for Transfeminist Technologies.

posters
Tree(s) sort(ed)
The generator of this poster is the tree sort algorithm, the subject are all the trees, algorithmic exercises and human beings involved in the residency of Anaïs Berck at the Villa Empain and ESA Saint-Luc Bruxelles in October 2021. The images and texts are sorted following different criteria: time, colour and the natural element in the alt-text description of the images.

workshops
Oracle for Consentful Publishing Infrastructures
This workshop presents a hands-on card desk that allows to collectively envision and share ideas for consentful publishing infrastructures. What kind of present with publishing can we imagine? How can less extraction be woven into an industry with an enormous ecological impact? What kinds of questions do we need to be asking? How do you think consent with publishing all the way through? This oracle is inspired by the Oracle for Transfeminist Technologies, created by Coding Rights & MIT co-design studio.

Performing the tree sort algorithm
An algorithm is a set of instructions that are executed by a machine. In this workshop the tree sort algorithm is presented with its stories and applications. Participants are invited to take the place of the machine and physically execute the algorithm as a collective game. Afterwards, they will apply the algorithm to objects in their environment. To end they will look at the code of the algorithm in Python.

A living library of plants
After a short introduction on artistic cooperation with plants, participants are invited to take part in a physical computing exercise to interact with plants through electricity. This can be done through measuring their living condition via sensor (light, CO2, sound), creating conductivity pattern by touching them, or measuring their electrical impulse through ecg-like apparatus.
